Whistleblower Alert No Polluted Rancho Corral de Tierra Lands for Golden Gate National Recreation Area To: Honorable U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein From: Oscar Braun,California Watershed Posse & Fire Safe Council Subject: CWP Whistleblower Alert: Stop Polluted Rancho Corral de Tierra Lands Purchase for GGNR & Protect Bay Area Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System. Honorable Elected Representatives, The mission of the CWP is to act as a public benefit non-profit 501(c) 3 “watch dog” organization to protect the integrity of governmental institutions, report possible violations of the law, regulations and rules governing the conduct of local, state and federal officials and employees. The CWP proactively pursues its mission as a tenured member of the NOAA sponsored Water Quality Protection Program and as California Department of Forestry certified San Mateo County Coastside Fire Safe Council. Since 1980, the CWP has maintained extensive data bases containing public documents, regulatory investigative reports and court records on County of San Mateo governmental zoning and land use activities impacting the 220 square miles of San Mateo County’s “rural” coastal zone area. On December 20, 2005, the CWP filed a Whistleblower complaint asserting that San Mateo County officials and employees have engaged in unlawful activities jointly and in collaboration with private non-profit organizations, including but not limited to, Sierra Club, Committee for Green Foothills, Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST), and Mid-Peninsula Regional Open Space District (MRSOD) collectively known as the Coastal Open Space Alliance (COSA), to perpetrate and further the scheme to acquire California rural farm and ranch lands at greatly reduced values under the guise of preserving our natural resources and open space for the public use. (see Whistleblower complaint below). The CWP is asking Resource Committee Chairman Honorable Richard Pombo to schedule oversight hearings investigating the pending $15 million dollar Federal Government purchase of the polluted and degraded lands known as Rancho Corral de Tierra from the POST prior to the November 2006 elections. The scope of the POST Congressional inquiry should be as broad and thorough as The Nature Conservancy (TNC) corruption hearings that Senator Grassley conducted in 2004. The CWP requests full public disclosure of “ALL” POST land transaction activities approved by POST’s Board of Directors as did Senator Grassley’s investigative committee demanded full public disclosure from the 501(c) 3 TNC. The Rancho Corral de Tierra 4,076 acres strategic location adjoining the San Francisco Peninsula Watershed Hetch Hetchy Reservoirs poses the highest risk for a catastrophic wildfire in the “wildland urban interface” (WUI) that would interrupt the regional water supply for 2.4 million families for 6 to 8 weeks according to the State Auditor in 2001. (see 911 WUI Area Security report). The CWP is committed to fulfilling Co-Founder and 911 United Flight 93 hero Alan Anthony Beaven’s living legacy (see Senator Feinstein tribute) to protect California future by protecting the our most vital resource…clean water. Our over 30,000 California Posse watch dog volunteers believe that the People have a right to honest government conducting the People’s business with the maximum amount of transparency . God Bless California and God Bless America.
